5Great trail runner  Aug 09, 2008
Great shoes , I'm on my third pair . I have had no trouble with them on any trail, rocky, sandy , uphill , downhill , flat it does the job on everything. Love them and would recommend them to anyone logging lots of trail running miles .

5My favorite pair of Brooks yet!  Mar 23, 2008
The Cascadia is my third "model" of shoe from Brooks. I started wearing Brooks when my podiatrist recommended them after I had surgery on my toes. I started off with the Ariel (a.k.a. Beast for the men), which has the strongest motion control. As I healed, I shifted into the Adrenaline. When I started hiking off-road, my friendly Brooks retailer recommended against the Cascadia, but the polka dots proved too seductive and I bought a pair.

To know if you'll like the Cascadia, you need to understand what it is. The Cascadia is a rugged shoe designed for "aggressive trails." It features a "ballistic rock shield," which does seem to work pretty well, but I'm no expert. The most important thing to understand about this shoe is that it is NOT for severe pronators who need the Brooks motion control. If you buy Brooks for the motion control, you will not like these shoes!

My friendly local shoe merchant explained the different shoe styles to me in terms of cars - the Beast is a pickup truck, the Adrenaline is a sedan, and the Cascadia is a sports coupe, with a "more exciting ride" but less stability. As much as I laughed at his word choice, this is a really accurate analogy based on my experience with all three shoes. If I put on the Ariels now, I feel like I have a board strapped to my foot.

I own both the red and grey Cascadias and recommend them very highly. If you like to have strangers comment on your shoes, get the red and you won't be disappointed. They are VERY sharp looking, striking shoes! I climbed the Great Wall of China in them, and my feet were very comfortable. I also received a variety of non-English compliments on them.

The only thing I can't rate about these shoes is the insoles that come with them, as I use my custom orthotics. They are so colorful, though (teal for the grey/blue, and red for the black/red shoes), that I kept them anyway.

5Brooks Cascadia Running Shoe  Mar 03, 2008
I love the style of this shoe. It is more comfortable than I expected; and is well-made beside. The description from the seller promised a fast drying shoe, and I can certainly attest to that, as well. Would like more of this same shoe, in other colors.

3not the best brooks shoe  Jan 17, 2007
This Brooks shoe, although cuter than the others, felt narrower, and had less motion control and stability than the other 5 pairs of Brooks I've owned.
