Garmont hiking boot Apr 17, 2008 I bought this a half size too small so although it's a snug fit it becomes livable after you break them in.These are much lighter than my current boots but you will need some foamy inserts as you can develope a blister or two on the balls of your foot. The boots are very stiff till you break them in so just keep wearing them. Also the tread on these are very good in all conditions except ice.I wore these this past winter.
quality boot Apr 01, 2008 Quality boot. Great price ($40 with shipping)!!! Nice snug (not tight) fit, very comfortable and warm. Tested them out in Tahoe last week and they passed with flying colors.
Well made but way undersized and slow to delivery. Mar 29, 2008 Garmont Men's Passo Hiking Boot, is way undersized and the seller is slow to respond in shipping. The quality of the boot is good but what good is something that doesn't fit? And is limited to the sizes that are available. All in all, a very disappointing experience.
Decent Shoe Mar 15, 2008 Good shoe for the value. However, they are very stiff and gave me severe blisters. Be sure to double up on socks and/or wear moleskin. I noticed some crimping in the toes when coming down steep areas. You get what you pay for, to a certain extent. Note that my experiences include wearing these shoes on 6-10mile hikes. Short term hikes (1-4 miles) didnt seem to bother my feet as much.
Good ankle support, and for the casual hiker, these are pretty good shoes for the buck.
Fit just like a glove for my feet - VERY pleased! Mar 09, 2008 I've got to say up front that I am often reluctant to purchase hiking boots on-line due to the wider variation of fit than, say athletic shoes. Some fit like athletic shoes, some fit like work boots, and some just plain don't fit at all. I've tried on many hiking boots that had a high heel and little arch support - asked myself "what where they thinking?"
These are sized closer to athletic shoes than, say an oversized wookboot. If you wear X size in basketball or running shoes, that is the size to order these in. Arch support is very good, and in the right place. Furthermore an additional adjustment insole pad is included for a nice custom fit.
I gave these 4 stars instead of 5 simply as they are a bit stiffer than many similar type hiking boots out of the box. You'll want to give them time to break in vs. some hikers that are just right out of the box. Yet I'd buy another pair without hesitation and recommend them to a friend.
